# Privacy policy

This is the privacy policy for Get Started With AI, a website operated by Richard Batt. It explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights under UK GDPR. Last updated 28 April 2026.

## Who we are

Get Started With AI is operated by Richard Batt, an AI implementation practitioner based in Middlesbrough, UK. Contact: hello@getstartedwithai.co.uk. The data controller is Richard Batt acting in a sole-trader capacity.

## What we collect

- Email address and name when you submit the contact form or webinar registration.
- When you submit the niche picker form at /niche-picker/: first name, email address, current situation, biggest blocker, current/considered tools, current monthly revenue band, target client size, plus UTM parameters (utm_source/medium/campaign/content) if present in the URL.
- When you submit the SMB customer-acquisition audit form at /smb-audit/: first name, email address, industry, website URL (optional), where most of your customers come from, biggest customer-acquisition blocker, plus UTM parameters if present.
- When you book a Three-Citation Review call at /book/: first name, email address, business name, optional reason for the call, plus the time slot you select. The slot is held until you cancel or the meeting takes place.
- Standard server logs (IP address, user agent, page requested, timestamp) for site security and analytics.
- Aggregated, anonymised usage analytics (page views, traffic sources). No personal profiling.
- Downloads are free and ungated. No email is required to access any template, prompt pack or worksheet on this site.

## How we use it

- Contact form messages route to richard@richardbatt.com so Richard can reply.
- Webinar registrations send the calendar invite, the replay link and a small number of related emails (typically two follow-ups).
- Niche picker submissions are sent to an LLM (currently Qwen via OpenRouter) to generate a personalised Claude agent project. The generated project is emailed to you as a .zip attachment and hosted at a private UUID-keyed URL for browsing in the explorer.
- SMB customer-acquisition audit submissions are used to deliver the lead-magnet PDF as an email attachment, segment you into the right industry-specific nurture sequence (typically three to four follow-up emails over a fortnight), and route any reply to Richard. No LLM call is made at submission time; the PDF is a static document we send to everyone.
- Booking submissions are used to confirm the call with you and Richard, send calendar invites (Google Calendar link and Apple/iCal .ics attachment), and create a record of the appointment in our booking database. Richard receives a notification email so he can prepare for the call.
- Server logs are used only for security and aggregated traffic analysis.

## Where we store it

- Email addresses are stored in our email service provider (currently EmailIt) for delivery.
- Webinar registrations are stored in the booking system used for that session.
- Niche picker submissions are stored on our hosting server in a SQLite database (the same row prevents the same email submitting twice). The generated agent files sit in /data/agents// on the server. Both are purged after 180 days by a scheduled cleanup task.
- SMB customer-acquisition audit submissions are stored on our hosting server in a separate SQLite database. Records are reviewed for archival after 540 days; we do not auto-delete because service-business buying windows are long.
- Booking records are stored on our hosting server in a separate SQLite database. They are kept for 365 days after the appointment date, then archived.
- Server logs are stored on the hosting provider (currently 20i) for 30 days.
- No data is sold, traded or shared with third parties for marketing purposes.

## Cookies and ad tracking

- The niche picker, SMB customer-acquisition audit and booking pages use the Facebook (Meta) Pixel to measure ad performance. The Pixel only fires after you click Accept on the cookie consent banner. Decline and the forms still work; only the ad-attribution events are skipped.
- No tracking cookies are set on any other part of the site. Form submissions, downloads and email delivery do not depend on cookies.

## Your rights under UK GDPR

- You can request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
- You can request correction of any inaccurate data.
- You can request deletion at any time. We action within 30 days.
- You can withdraw consent for any marketing email at any time using the unsubscribe link or by emailing hello@getstartedwithai.co.uk.
- You can lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner (ICO) at ico.org.uk if you believe we have mishandled your data.

## Cookies

The site uses minimal cookies. Essential cookies for site functionality. No third-party advertising cookies. If we add analytics cookies, you will see a cookie banner first. You can decline at any time.

## AI tools and your data

When you engage Richard for a paid project, no client data goes into AI tools without an explicit data processing agreement. AI tools used in implementation are configured with training data turned off and tenant-grade controls. The full project-level data handling is documented per engagement.

## Changes to this policy

When this policy changes, the last-updated date at the top of the page changes too. Significant changes are emailed to anyone on the mailing list. The current version is the active version.
